Love the backpack. Only thing we wish is that it had zip pockets

Bought it to take to Colorado for vacation. Kept our frozen dog food frozen for 6 hours with a 10lb bag of ice. Might have gone longer but we stayed overnight somewhere so we took out the dog food and ice and stuck it in the freezer at the hotel. We can’t wait to take it to the beach!
I am super satisfied with this cooler. Bought it as a gift for my husband on Father's Day. He loves it!
I needed a tough bag. I needed to be able to bring 2 days of food. I meal prep so I am bringing breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus snacks X's 2. This bag has the room. I can bring a small case of 10oz (15 pack) waters. Super great build. Feels sturdy, thick insulation, lightweight. Comfortable backpack straps. You can carry it like a normal bag but the backpack straps do not come off. It has connections so you could attach a shoulder strap. Wish it came with one. Only real issue I have is this bag lacks external pockets. Still I rate this a 5 star rating. Tried other bags that I thought had it all and was extremely disappointed. This one is it even though it lacks external pockets.
I recently bought this cooler and immediately went down to Austin for the weekend with it in 100 + degree weather. I put 36 beers along with about a half a bag of ice in it and let me tell ya, it far exceeded my expectations. The shoulder strap/waist harness combo makes for an incredible fit that that is actually pretty comfy considering the heavy load this bad boy can handle. Not to mention, I literally had 15 people ask me about it as I cruised down to the lakeside. Long story short, this cooler is comfy, mobile, and keeps lots of crispy boys nice and crispy. Just get it.
I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day. It arrived in two days! It is very study, for nicely in the back seat of the truck and holds a lot more than I realized. The hubs had to test out it’s a bikini we so left beer and ice in it and sat it in the full sun in Houston TX for three days and although at some point all of the ice melted, everything, including the melted ice water was very cold. There are a lot of straps but when we take this bad boy hiking, it will come in good use. The zipper is a bit of a pain but we haven’t lubed it yet. Overall, we love it!
We love our cooler. Portable and holds lots of ice and drinks.
Built great, keeps cold, looks great, super handy!!
I bought this for my husband as an early Birthday gift. He is really excited to use it. He uses his RTIC color on camping trips all the time and loves it. Only bummer was that the blue/grey was sold out so I went with the tan.
Extremely happy with this cooler. I bought for an upcoming trip and am not disappointed. I currently have a more expensive hard cooler that I don’t use Bc it’s too heavy for me to carry when filled. This one is so portable. I have taken it to the beach a few times and to baseball games. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a backpack cooler.
Used this on a job site in 100+ degree weather in TX and everything stayed perfectly cold ALL day long. I personally would love to see this version in a smaller option. Maybe a 15-20 can version? Either way, job well done RTIC. I’ll be a customer forever.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for. A large enough bag to fit all my food and drinks I need for my family that still fits comfortably on my back.
My wife got me this cooler as a gift and it’s such a smart buy. Not ideal for long hikes (what cooler is?) but for literally everything else this cooler is a winner.
Great backpack and I’ve already used it so many times, and glad I didn’t pay double for the yeti one. Have to be generous with the ice, but it will stay nice and cold for a while. Only comment is that it would be nice to have a small zipper pocket somewhere on the outside, otherwise great cooler
We went floating the Guadalupe River and this back pack came in handy. Packed a lot of beers and helped me keep afloat when I fell off my tube. The bungee strap held up my Bluetooth speaker. Would definitely buy again.
Last summer we went to Hamilton pool for a half day. it's a good 600-ish metres walk through a light duty trail and multiple rocks. Compared the previous trip and our wheeled cooler this thing made it sooo easy. Ever since then it's been the go-to BBQ/ pool party/ social gathering cooler. It's easy to use, keeps drinks incredibly cold in the Texas Heat, and ultra portable. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
This is great for hauling stuff to the beach, hunting, fishing, etc. Holds more than Yeti's backpack. Very Sturdy. If I'm going somewhere (like the beach/skiing/hunting/etc.) for a long weekend, I frequently use it for luggage. It fits my clothes and then I have a cooler once I get there. No Brainer!
All the RTIC products I own are top notch quality and craftsmanship so if those aren’t good old fashioned American values then maybe that stupid lady should vote for someone else and not give backhanded compliments.
I love the RTIC brand and it is an excellent product. However I will not be able to place the order I had selected due to the tariff surcharge. I find now how you can offer your product for the price. I cannot support and refuse to order from a company that does not support American values.
it helped me in my life it got rid of my dogs cancer and helped me to become an artist the best backpack of them all thank you RTIC
I have just added this cooler to my collection of the 45 hard cooler and the 40 soft cooler. I am on here to find a soft 20 for work. Great products.
This back pack cooler is a life saver for my husband. He wears it EVERYWHERE! On bike rides, camping at the beach, our kids sporting events you name it he’s got it. So handy to just throw in your back. No matter where we are he’s always got a cold drink to offer.
I spent countless hours looking for a great cooler for hauling my gear to the beach. I am a fisherman and needed something that could handle up to a hundred degree heat for a full day in the blazing sun. After researching extensively I chose to pull the trigger on the RTIC back pack cooler. I refuse to drop 325.00 on the other well known brand for a cooler that doesn't hold diddly. I chose the tan color because it won't absorb the sun as much as the darker model. I bought the RTIC when it went on sale for a hundred bucks. Upon arrival I inspected the cooler thoroughly and it seemed to be very well made, durable and had an incredible capacity. I then filled the cooler full of water and zipped it up and turned it upside down in my garage to test the claim of the water proof zipper. It stayed in the garage over night upside down. The following morning I went into the garage to check on the cooler. To my amazement I could not find "one" drop of water that escaped the cooler. It was completely bone dry. Holy smokes. My next test was to test out the insulation and cooling capabilities. I filled the cooler half way with ice and opened it a couple of times a day checking on it. Put it on the back porch in the summer in the southern heat and again the cooler passed with flying colors. It lasted 3 days and retained ice beautifully. Anyone who claims this cooler is not phenominal at keeping things cold is not putting an adequate amount of ice in it to do the job. You can't throw minimal ice in it and expect great results, it just doesn't work that way. The insulation is incredible and drinks stay bitter cold. Next test I wanted to look at was capacity. This cooler dominates the market in that area, it simply will hold more drinks, food, bait and ice than any cooler on the market by far. If you load it up, understand that it will be heavy. The good thing is you don't have too. Simply take what you need. At the same time if you need to haul allot you have the ability to do so. This cooler will hold a case and adequate amount of ice with no problem whatsoever. The padding on the back pack straps is phenomenal. Loaded up it can be heavy, but it handles it well. I have no fear that heading to my fishing hole with this on my back that the coolers stitching or straps are going to fail. It's built like a tank. The final thing I wanted to do before my review was to put it through its paces for year before posting my review. Allot of people will slap 5 stars on something they have had for a week that they haven't even used. Thats not the case here, I wanted to give it some time and real world experiance before posting this review and I must say so far the cooler has by far exceeded my expectations in every way. I have no idea why the people that do cooler reviews have not reviewed this particular back pack cooler. Hands down nothing on the market is a better back pack cooler and when purchasing when on sale it simply can't be beat. Bless you RTIC for not charging me 325.00 for a cooler!!!!
Best cooler yet. So I have the 45 and 65 hard coolers and they are great for certain outings. So I decided to purchase the back pack cooler! And wow I was impressed from the moment It arrived to my home. The first time I used it was middle Florida summer filled it up with drinks ice and some food in a container so it wouldn’t get wet and off to Miami bch we went 90+ degrees on the sand from 9 am to 7 pm kids open and closing all day. When we were wrapping the day up I loaded it on my back got to my vehicle and was kinda thirsty so I opened it and to my surprise it was still full of ice and the drinks were ice cold so I grabbed a drink put it in the bed of my truck and drove home. So I forgot to pull it out at home “kids” Lol. And it spent the 90 degree night outside plus the morning till around 11 am cooking in the bed. When I opened it to clean it out it still had about 40% ice incredible one 10lb bag last that long. So nothing more to say. Just go buy it!!!!!
First off RTIC customer service is outstanding! We use this cooler for boating, going to the beach and softball games. It is incredibly convenient to be able to throw it on your back freeing your hands for other items. It really does float in the lake fully loaded with ice and drinks. Everything always stays ice cold. I would highly recommend!
This cooler simply dominated the conditions. Quetico Provincial Park (June 8-15), Ontario Canada with temps ranging from a high on day one of 85 to a low of 35 overnight. Precooled the insulation with ice packs, loaded Frozen meat and perishables (on top) for a 15-hour car ride to Ely, MN. Refroze meat in outfitter deep freeze, placed 10 lb. block of ice in bottom of cooler, repacked meat and perishables on top. All meats and dairy products remained ice cold for the entire trip. We made sure to keep cooler in shade and limit the amount of times we opened it. On the final day we threw out a small chunk of ice. This pack was easily the most comfortable of all the gear packs that were portaged up the Man Chain.
Seriously. Every place we go, people comment on this backpack cooler. It’s easy to throw on your back while both your hands are free to herd your kids to the pool or beach. We love it, it keeps drinks and food ice cold for hours. Highly recommend!
I love it!!! Has a zipper that seals tite. I was able to fit 16 bottle waters with ice. Must buy
This amazing Cooler held ice in the boundary waters for 5 days on a fishing, canoeing / camping trip. To be honest I was very impressed. We put Dry Ice down first and two 10lb blocks of Wet Ice and we actually had to throw ice away on Day 5 when we headed back in. The zipper is so air tight that the dry ice actually started to pressurize the cooler and almost blew out the seam if i hadn't caught it. Having cold drinks in the boundary waters is a game changer, I've been 3 times prior and craved a cold drink the entire time, no longer a problem thanks to the RTIC Cooler backpack!!!
Came to doorstep little larger than what was expecting, but glad it’s the size cooler that it is. Love that wine bottles fit in it, 30 beers ++ & ice. We even layed sideways to place a 7 layer dip in transit to party. It keeps your stuff cold for a very long amount of time. Wish there was an actual pocket in this, but will come up with an idea for the elastic rope section like putting a bad in there for all my stuff.
I love this cooler! In the military and i needed a cooler that we could throw around and not have to worry about getting dirty or destroyed during ranges. Portable and easy to carry! Tan color keeps off the S.C. pollen and its easy to clean.
Absolutely perfect size! Bought for the beach and the pool. Only problem is when are y’all gonna make a waterproof pouch to attach to it??
I bought one of these backpack coolers to take to the beach everyday and wow! What a lifesaver! Holds plenty of beverages and snacks and allows me to be hands free to carry our chairs and other accessories. GREAT JOB RTIC!
Ordered my backpack on Sunday and it arrived Wednesday which was quicker than expected! They truly live up to their motto, “Over Built, Not Over Priced.” Very high quality all around, cooler compartment, backpack straps, padding, and the camouflage looks great! I would highly recommend RTIC Coolers to everyone. Great products for an even better price!
This is just about the coolest thing that I have gotten in a while. I have a hard cooler, and I love it! But, it has limitations. For one, if I am hiking in to tailgate with some buddies, it is a lot to carry. But, RTIC got to work on this baby and BOOM...problem solved! The first thing I did was run out and put about 12 beers in it and ten pounds of ice. I just wanted to see how it would handle the weight. It was magnificent! The thing is so well designed that you can put all kinds of drinks in there and carry them as far as you need to go! Yeah, ice is heavy, but this sucker takes the weight and spreads it over a surface area that makes it manageable. Wonderful design. And, it keeps ice for a VERY long time...days of ice cold beer! In short, this is all you want in a cooler backpack! I can't wait for my next outing here at Texas A&M...my backpack is coming with me! Dr. W PS. My wife also tried it out, and she loves it too! No problem managing the weight!
Got this for my hubby! He is very happy with my purchase. Had been using an older rolling cooler that was not even near the quality of this backback. He does not even miss the rolling cooler as this keeps things much cooler over the span of several days!
Have loaded it with a 30 pack with ice held up very well was surprisingly comfortable held ice for a couple of days and for bout 90 bucks “WOW” nothing else to say.
Cooler is a beast for it to be a soft pack. Love that ot can be carried on back. My wife even totes it. Ice stays in for days, it's not heavy, and waterproof. Plenty of pads to help support it. Recommend for anyone that does not want to carry the hard sided coolers just for a day or two trip to beach.
This is my 2nd RTIC Softpak cooler. The dimensions are bigger internally than listed here. It's 16" tall inside. This cooler will easily hold six 6-packs (normal sized cans) with a couple of inches left at the top for ice. Don't see how 40 cans will fit--but I'm satisfied with 36 can capacity--plus the ability to stand wine bottles upright. 24-30 cans + ice is about the right mix. This is well stitched & seems durable. Getting nit-picky, I wish there was a way to tuck in the backpack straps but I bought a backpack cooler for a reason. I added a khaki Maxpedition FR-1 pouch to the front for first aid, keys, and phone storage. Big usability improvement. Definitely recommend this cooler.
Ordered the RTIC Backpack Cooler. Super fast shipping. The cooler is well built and comfortable to wear. This is my second RTIC cooler. Great products!!
Couldn’t be happier with this product. We will see how it performs in the Savannah heat over the summer, but for now it’s a great deal and superbly overbuilt for the price!
I love this backpack cooler! Awesome quality and very well insulated! It arrived in 3 days I’m very satisfied!
I have very mixed feelings on this backpack. I received the overpriced primary competitor’s backpack as a gift from my wife and promptly returned it for this one at nearly one third the price (on sale). Despite the much lower price, the material on this RTIC backpack is arguably nicer, the insulation appears to be roughly twice as thick on the sides and top, and the padding on the shoulder straps, hop straps, and on your back is MUCH thicker. This is a very high quality backpack at any price! Unfortunately I feel the bulk of this backpack is a misstep however. On paper it looks a little larger than the competitor but in person it feels MUCH bulkier. It feels designed for a multi-day adventure but I cringe at the thought of having that much weight on my back for anything more than a short walk. I’m very hopeful to see a (little) smaller model of this backpack in the near future as it really has a lot of things done right. The other tweaks I’d like to see would be a handle on the top instead of the two carry straps that come together and the handles on the sides would be much more useful if they were up near the top. Also, the positioning of the (nicely padded) hip straps seems off. I am 5’7” yet that strap seems to ride directly across my belly button. Aside from that, I think this is a backpack that would be much better for someone a lot taller than myself.
Bought the tan one when they first came out with the 2nd generation. Build quality is top notch and the welded seams are nice. Pretty substantial in size but also comfortable using the adjustable straps.
A lot bigger than I thought. Looks well built.
When will you have more of the variety backpack coolers?
Great cooler. Way more room than I need. Very comfortable to carry. A little too big for what my original use was, but I will use it for a lot more now that I have it.
This backpack is one of my favorite coolers that I own. We spend a lot of time on the river and 4 wheeling. I have the original style with the roll top lid like a dry bag. The cooler holds ice for days! The added bonus, it will hold a 1/6 keg with ice! I highly recommend this cooler
